About this major
Computer Science studies how software, algorithms, data, and computing systems solve problems. Clemson offers both B.A. and B.S. routes, with the B.S. emphasizing technical computing and mathematics. Students learn through programming, systems work, and project-based courses while choosing topics such as security, graphics, networking, or artificial intelligence.

Before You Choose
What studying it feels like
You’ll spend a lot of time turning vague problems into precise instructions. Coding is the visible part, but mathematical reasoning and testing are what make the software reliable.
One thing to know
The degree supports several computing careers, yet internships and a body of finished work often make the first job search much more concrete.
Ask yourself
- 1Do you enjoy debugging when the answer is not obvious?
- 2Are you building experience outside class for the roles you want?
Longer-term context
$120,000
